"A HUNTING WE WILL GO" "Tally-Ho"

Wed 17.10.2018 at 19:00 Kotka Concert Hall
Thu 18.10.2018 at 19:00 Kuusankoski Hall

If you think you sense elks in the concert hall, the reason may be the hunting themes of the Classical era and the quartet of four natural horns. Horn calls and gun shots echo around the wooded Salzburg hills in Leopold Mozart’s Sinfonia di caccia, while other soloists join in the virtuoso hunting signals of the closing variations of the Haydn symphony. Hunting motifs also flit through the Piano Concerto No. 22 by the younger Mozart, with Finland’s leading fortepiano specialist as the soloist. The Kymi Sinfonietta has rounded up some other ‘natural instruments’, too, for this concert, from wooden flutes to Baroque kettledrums.
