This programme led by our concertmaster Raymond Cox focuses on timeless Classics that sound equally fresh from one century to the next. The Adagio & Fugue bring out the profound, more melancholy side of Mozart and demonstrate his command of counterpoint. The soloist in his Piano Concerto no. 20, heartrendingly beautiful and soaring into romantic heights, ranks among Finland’s internationally most highly-acclaimed pianists of all times, Antti Siirala. We end with one of the most magnificent souvenirs of Haydn’s years in London, his charming “Oxford” Symphony.
