The album Vaiheet released in 1997 by Samuli Edelmann featured settings by his father, Toni Edelmann, of poems by Goethe, Hesse and Shakespeare and soon acquired cult status. The album was recorded in Paris as a large-scale production with a symphony orchestra. After Toni’s death, Sami released more of his compositions on a second disc (Vaiheet 2, 2019) with a smaller ensemble. Kymi Sinfonietta audiences were treated to a feast of these already highly-acclaimed pieces, and the orchestra is now honoured to present the magnificent collection at the Helsinki Festival.
