The concerts also celebrate the long\, 70-year ties of friendship between the two cities. The cornerstones of the concert programme are the enchanting Baroque-style Suite by Johann Friedrich Fasch and the passionate Double Concerto by Bohuslav Martinů\, both highlighting the two orchestras’ ability to tackle the most varied of repertoire. Crowning the concert is the Burlesque composed by the young Richard Strauss and one of his favourite works\, and the four festive interludes from his opera ‘Intermezzo’. The conductor is one of the Kymi Sinfonietta’s own musicians\, Dimas Ruiz Santos. He and Cupeiro have recorded the music with a top London orchestra\, the Royal Philharmonic.
