Lohisoitto and the Kymi Sinfonietta under legendary conductor Okko Kamu have something very special lined up for this fantastic early-summer concert: works by Klami, Aho and Beethoven. The high point of the evening is the world premiere performance of a true work of art, a new concerto composed specifically for Lohisoitto and the Kymi Sinfonietta by Kalevi Aho, one of the greatest and most sought-after concerto composers in the world today. As always, Aho exploits the solo instrument – this time the euphonium – to the full, and Mizuho Kojima has every opportunity to demonstrate her art in the demanding solo part. The concert begins with Klami’s characterful Symphonie enfantine and ends with some Beethoven fireworks.
