The Kymi Sinfonietta begins its autumn season with a programme steeped in nostalgia, of standards deeply etched on the Finnish mindscape. Almost part of the national heritage, they are fertile ground for the interplay of different genres and for the magnificent arrangements of Marzi Nyman and Mikko Hassinen. In the process, many of the old familiar tunes acquire an even jazzier new life.
