We immerse ourselves in the reassuring, optimistic message of Easter as we listen to Haydn’s Seven Last Words of Our Saviour on the Cross. He composed it in 1786, describing each of the seven words in ten minutes of glorious music. He prefaced them with an Introduction, and ended with an Earthquake. The meditative, moving music is a fitting run-up to Easter.
