One of the biggest composition competitions even by international standards, an illustrious jury, magnificent compositions and soloists, broadcast live, prize-giving ceremony and first-class musicians – all these are the ingredients of the thrilling finals of the Klami Competition closely followed both in Finland and abroad. Audiences at the finals conducted by Ernest Martínez Izquierdo get treated to no fewer than five world premieres chosen from among the nearly 230 competition entries. Two of the works include a soloist, both masters of their instrument. Presenting the concert is YLE’s charismatic Jussi-Pekka Rantanen familiar to TV viewers all over Finland. The Jury will announce the winners and award the prizes immediately after the concert, and members of the audience will have a chance to vote for their favourite.
