Esa Ylönen, pianist and Chairman of the Uuno Klami Society, joins players from the Kymi Sinfonietta in an appealing concert of charming chamber music by Uuno Klami, a composer from Virolahti in SE Finland, on the 120th anniversary of Klami’s birth. This concert is a unique opportunity to hear some of Klami’s lesser-known and seldom-performed works with a presenter to provide some background information. Dedicated to the music of Uuno Klami, Esa Ylönen and composer Eero Kesti have done much to make Klami’s chamber music more easily accessible to players by editing works by him (published by Fennica Gehrman). The programme will include two movements from the Piano Quartet in D considered to be the best work composed by Klami as a student, and one of his most entertaining pieces, Rag-Time & Blues for clarinet, trumpet, piano and two violins. There will also be a few light gems in nostalgic Viennese vein.
