IF TREES COULD SPEAK – FOCUS ON THE BASSOON
Jean Sibelius: The Trees Op. 75 (orchestral arr. Ernest Pingoud)
Páll Ragnar Pálsson: PLAY (commissioned jointly by the Kymi Sinfonietta and the Estonian National Symphony Orchestra)
Reynaldo Hahn: Mozart Overture for Chamber Orchestra
W. A. Mozart: Symphony No. 39 in E-flat Major, KV 543
The Kymi Sinfonietta welcomes Estonian bassoon superstar and multiple Grammy nominee Martin Kuuskmann. Contemporary music occupies a large role in his repertoire. Together with Olari Elts he is now to play the Bassoon Concerto by Iceland’s Páll Ragnar Pálsson, a joint commission from the Kymi Sinfonietta and the Estonian National Symphony Orchestra. The Overture by Reynaldo Hahn is a real treat, with its feel for nature, its playfulness and its wonderful optimism.
