Jukka Harju\, a leading name in Finnish French horn circles\, admirably demonstrates the brilliance and singing quality of the instrument in the spirited second horn concerto composed by Richard Strauss late in life. Nor is there any lack of energy flow in the closing work on the programme\, Beethoven’s seventh symphony\, each movement of which is a feast of life and light.

DESCRIPTION:The “Kymi Sinfonietta near you” concerts were a great hit ten years ago\, and the time has now come to revive them with special programmes. Our players divide up into three groups: strings\, winds\, and a jazz-oriented ensemble. Each group will perform at different venues in Kotka and Kouvola\, such as Sapokka\, Kymi Church\, Kouvola City Hall and Kouvola Night of the Arts. The programme curators have let their imagination run wild\, and access has been made as easy as possible.

Setting the tone of this light-hearted concert will be rising-star conductor Sauli Saarinen\, Marika Hölttä (coloratura soprano) and Aarne Pelkonen (baritone) in a cavalcade of rousing entertainment\, light classics and speak-to-the-heart evergreens\, plus tunes from the silver screen and musicals.
