Chaplin composed the score in 1942\, and it has since been arranged for live performances of the 1925 version by Timothy Brock. Based on the plot of the Klondike Gold Rush in Alaska\, the film and the live music composed for it have been delighting viewers ever since. \nChaplin’s knack of combining comedy with drama simply never fails. With him he is bringing two works by Mozart and two by Latvian Pēteris Vasks\, a composer with whom he has long been collaborating. It was to Kangas that Vasks dedicated his Musica Serena.
