DESCRIPTION:The “Kymi Sinfonietta near you” concerts were a great hit ten years ago\, and the time has now come to revive them with special programmes. Our players divide up into three groups: strings\, winds\, and a jazz-oriented ensemble. Each group will perform at different venues in Kotka and Kouvola\, such as Sapokka\, Kymi Church\, Kouvola City Hall and Kouvola Night of the Arts. The programme curators have let their imagination run wild\, and access has been made as easy as possible.

DESCRIPTION:Soloist and leader: Jukka Perko\, saxophone \nJukka Perko’s compelling\, original take on hymns continues to be ample proof of a living\, thriving tradition. We hear numbers from his album Kaanaanmaa released in 2002 that speak profoundly to the Finnish soul and sales of which qualified for a gold. The disc covered arrangements by him representing five different styles and generations of much-loved hymns in a pleasing\, moving collection.

SUMMARY:EASTER WEEK CONCERT THE RESURRECTION
DESCRIPTION:Conductor:\nTopi Lehtipuu \nSoloists:\nMagdalena Lucjan\, soprano\nSylwia Ziólkowska\, soprano\nDelphine Galou\, alto\nŽiga Čopi\, tenor\nNazar Mykulyak\, baritone \nContinuo / In collaboration with the Ensemble Nylandia \nGeorg Frideric Handel:\nLa Resurrezione \nThe message of Easter finds human and moving expression in the Resurrection oratorio by Handel. It was one of the finest works he composed during his Italian period\, and tonight is a rare opportunity to hear it. The Italian influence is reflected in the musical content\, and its beauty is manifest in a more personal and intimate way than in his other great oratorio\, Messiah. This version of the Resurrection story is especially interesting in that it presents some lesser-known characters\, and it also has some cheerful\, operatic touches. Here to perform it are some brilliant soloists hand-picked by our Artistic Partner Topi Lehtipuu.
