Kymi Sinfonietta is recruiting a PRINCIPAL VIOLA for a permanent position. The salary will be determined in accordance with the relevant collective agreement. A requirement for playing chamber music is included in the position. We hope that the applicants possess good co-operation and interaction skills. Finnish and English are the official languages at the workplace.

The audition will be held on Friday 6th of February 2026 at the Kotka Concert Hall (address Keskuskatu 33, Kotka, Finland) beginning at 12:00. The orchestra will provide an accompanist for the audition, but the applicants are also allowed to use another accompanist at their own expense. The audition can include chamber music assignments and an interview.
Audition assignments:
1. F. A. Hoffmeister: Viola concerto in D major, 1st movement with cadenza OR C. Stamitz: Viola concerto in D major, 1st movement with cadenza.
2. Solo piece of the applicant’s choice (maximum 10 minutes) with piano accompaniment. This can be a solo piece or movement from a concerto.
3. Orchestra and chamber music excerpts, which can be ordered from tuomas.vanhalakka@kymisinfonietta.fi from the 12th of January 2026 onwards.
