Kymi Sinfonietta will perform at the Sibelius Music Festival in Loviisa for the first time this year. In keeping with the festival’s theme, the concert draws its colours from nature, especially from the forest. The evening opens with Uuno Klami’s spirited overture to The Cobblers on the Heath, bursting with humour and vitality. Naava, portraying the mystery of the forest, offers a fascinating glimpse into the work of Joel Järventausta, a rising composer gaining international recognition. For this concert, Tomas Takolander has arranged Sibelius’s Tapiola, with its powerful evocation of Finnish mysticism and nature, as well as Debussy’s beautifully flowing Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun, for Kymi Sinfonietta’s orchestral forces.
