From Lallukka to Kujaholm – Works for string orchestra and piano, and piano and chamber music 1930–1957
Conductor: Esa Heikkilä
Soloist: Esa Ylönen, piano
Uuno Klami was born 125 years ago this year. Esa Ylönen (piano) and the Kymi
Sinfonietta strings conducted by Esa Heikkilä mark the occasion with an illustrated talk tracing the life of the Finnish composer from the Lallukka home for artists to Kujaholm in Virolahti where he spent his summers. The recital is part of Ylönen’s doctoral degree assignment at the Sibelius Academy and the first artistic doctoral degree to address the subject of Uuno Klami. It will be accompanied by photos connected with Klami and paintings by Mikko Ranki of the sea and islands at Virolahti.
