The Kymi Sinfonietta (Kymenlaakso Orkesteri Oy) has appointed Inka Puhakka as its new Managing Director as of August 1, 2025. Inka holds a Master’s degree from both the Sibelius Academy and the University of Jyväskylä and has previous experience of working with, among others, the Chamber Orchestra of Lapland, the Lapland Military Band, the Finnish Defence Forces, the Lappeenranta Music Institute, the Helsinki Police Band and most recently the Jyväskylä Sinfonia. She is also a member of the National Council for Music for 2025–2026.
“Though I’m sad to be leaving the Jyväskylä Sinfonia, I’m greatly looking forward to working with the Kymi Sinfonietta,” says Inka. “The orchestra has a positive image – both for its quality and for the atmosphere at work. Added to which, the Kymi Sinfonietta lends itself to the performance of many kinds of music. I hope the varied repertoire will appeal widely to our Kymenlaakso audiences, because sharing cultural experiences with others is a means of rising above the dreary everyday round. I feel my work is meaningful precisely for its ability to make these concert experiences possible.”

As we see it, Inka has an excellent command of the field, attitude and knowhow. A Managing Director equipped with these will cope extremely well. We warmly welcome Inka to Kymenlaakso.”
