This family concert invites all to step on board a train to Musicland. Cheerful spring sounds have woken Musicland Teddy from his winter sleep. On the way, travellers will have time to wonder at the sweet sounds from the orchestra, to scratch their heads at the antics of Hubert the Gnat, and to be reminded what a clarinet and other wind instruments sound like. Our Artistic Partner Jukka Perko leads the Kymi Sinfonietta in a concert of big band standards in zippy arrangements. As the icing on the cake, we also have a little Grieg and Tchaikovsky in the spirit of rhythm music. The five-star arrangements are by Artu Takalo, Sampo Kasurinen, Ville Vannemaa and Artturi Rönkä. As Perko puts it: “The concert will brilliantly highlight the Kymi Sinfonietta’s astounding ability to venture out of its safety zone into new surroundings.” A feel-good concert sure to go with a swing!
