A concert of powerful feelings and stories almost certainly on the wish-list of many. Our guide in the enchanting tango nuevo world of tango master and innovator Astor Piazzolla is bandoneon player Henrik Sandås.
This hosted concert is an exciting celebration of 70 years of twinning by the cities of Kotka and Tallinn. We are also delighted to welcome two guests from Estonia: star pianist Johan Randvere, one of his country’s most interesting international young musicians, and Peeter Vähi, the composer of inspiringly exotic and meditative music
We welcome you to come and meet the evening’s artists.
The artists in this concert both have roots in Central Europe, which also provides the substance for the programme. Krzysztof Dobosiewicz and Kymi Sinfonietta clarinettist Csaba Rajnai first joined forces nearly 20 years ago for the premiere of Dobosiewicz’s first clarinet concerto.

Two heart-warming Christmas classics in both audio and visual format. The Kymi Sinfonietta gets into Christmas mode with the utterly delightful Snowman film given a magical boost by our live orchestral accompaniment.
Uuno Klami was born 125 years ago this year. Esa Ylönen (piano) and the Kymi Sinfonietta strings conducted by Esa Heikkilä mark the occasion with an illustrated talk tracing the life of the Finnish composer from the Lallukka home for artists to Kujaholm in Virolahti where he spent his summers.
This concert brings a message of peace, joy and hope. Catch the warm seasonal mood at our traditional Christmas concert of dreamy, much-loved evergreens and old Finnish Christmas carols.
