This concert conducted by Olari Elts focuses on various reflections of a country rich in colour and variety: Italy. Andrea Portera, winner of the 2019 International Uuno Klami Composition Competition – one of the world’s biggest composition competitions in terms of the number of participants – makes an eagerly-awaited return to our region.
This programme led by our concertmaster Raymond Cox focuses on timeless Classics that sound equally fresh from one century to the next. The Adagio & Fugue bring out the profound, more melancholy side of Mozart and demonstrate his command of counterpoint. The soloist in his Piano Concerto no. 20, heartrendingly beautiful and soaring into romantic heights, ranks among Finland’s internationally most highly-acclaimed pianists of all times, Antti Siirala.
Talented young London-born Kerem Hasan tonight conducts the Kymi Sinfonietta in a fascinating interplay of darkness and light.
The Kymi Sinfonietta begins its autumn season in cheerful mood – with a concert that invites us to enjoy the moment and let ourselves be carried along by the music. Multi-instrumentalist I-Han Fu is fast making a name for himself as a conductor, too, and tonight conjures up some lavishly colourful moods.
